Who operates Unboxd AI

Unboxd AI operates the app. Privacy and support questions can be sent to:

Your account and saved data

Unboxd AI uses your email address to create and authenticate your account. Your name, optional profile photo, food preferences, allergen flags, scan history, generated recipes, and saved recipes are stored with your account and cached on your signed-in device.

Supabase provides authentication and database hosting. Row-level access controls restrict each authenticated user to the data attached to that account. Unboxd AI does not use this data for advertising, cross-app tracking, or behavioral analytics.

Barcode and camera use

The camera is used only to recognize a barcode. Unboxd AI does not capture, save, or upload a camera photo. A scanned or manually entered barcode is sent to product-data providers so a matching public product record can be returned. Those services receive ordinary network metadata such as an IP address under their own practices.

Optional AI recipe generation

AI sharing is off by default. Only after you allow it, Unboxd AI sends the scanned product name, barcode, available label data, your recipe request, and selected goals, diet, allergen, and kitchen preferences through the Unboxd AI server to OpenAI for the recipe you requested. Your local name, profile photo, scan history, and saved history are not included.

You can withdraw permission at any time in Settings. Barcode lookup, ingredient display, and deterministic scoring remain available without AI.

Processing and retention

Unboxd AI sends OpenAI Responses API requests with storage disabled and does not intentionally persist recipe request bodies in an application database. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train its models unless the developer opts in and that abuse-monitoring logs may be retained for a limited period unless different approved controls or legal and safety requirements apply. Hosting providers may process short-lived security and network logs.

EAS Update may process limited crash and update-delivery diagnostics to deliver and troubleshoot app updates. These services are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Deletion and choices

Open Settings in the app and choose Delete account and all data to permanently remove the account, profile, photo, preferences, scans, generated recipes, and saved recipes. Deleting the app alone removes its device cache but does not delete the account. See the deletion instructions.

Food and health information

Scores, explanations, prices, and recipe nutrition are educational estimates—not medical advice or an allergy guarantee. Source records can be incomplete or outdated. Always verify the current physical package and every recipe ingredient for allergens, cross-contact, serving size, and medical needs.
